Our program relies on a group of dedicated volunteer tutors, and if you want to make a difference in someone's life, we invite you to join our team! You don't need teaching experience; if you speak, read, and write English fluently, and can spare a couple of hours a week, we will provide the training and the resources that will allow you to help an adult improve his or her quality of life. Ideal tutors have patience and are willing to view teaching as a two-way experience, understanding that we are all learners.   After you have completed a one-day training session, you will be matched with a student whose level and needs have been evaluated. Generally, tutors and students meet once or twice a week, either at the Monroe Education Center, or another public area convenient to both parties. Appropriate workbooks are provided, and periodic workshops offer the opportunity for tutors to interact with each other to discuss what works and what doesn't.

If you'd like to become a tutor, or have questions, please phone (434) 929-2630, or fill out the following form to let us know the best way to contact you:
